as most (if not all) of us are still trying to switch mode and get down to doing some thinking at either school or work, i’ve decided to introduce you to a movie that, for some strange reason, has always seemed to me to be a summer story.. however, it isn’t but not knowing why i think of ‘birdy’ this way.. so get ready as i’ll try to psychoanalyse myself now..

vivisection, part 1:

perhaps it’s because of the sunny weather that wraps up the scenes which are the two main characters’ reminiscences of their teenage days..

vivisection, part 2:

perhaps the past seems to be sunnier than the present..

vivisection, part 3:

perhaps it’s because i saw it so long ago (which, most likely, was before all of you reading this were born:)) and it made a huge impact on me.. what’s more, at that time whole poland was reading william wharton, the author of ‘birdy’.. i was no exception and read all the books that by then had been translated into polish.. i truly enjoyed 'spóźnieni kochankowie’, ‘w księżycową jasną noc’, ‘ptasiek’ and a bunch of others and some bits i found in them have been engraved on my mind ever since.. i’d better not dwell on this now..:)

vivisection, part 4:

perhaps it’s because of some memorable scenes such as the monument comment (and i believe the sun’s shining as what’s said is said:))..

vivisection, part 5:

just reminded myself that years ago i went to see ‘birdy’ in the west end.. the character of birdy was played by rob morrow, one of the main guys in ‘northern exposure’ (‘przystanek alaska’) which was an extremely popular series in poland then..

vivisection, part 6:

peter gabriel’s responsible for the soundtrack, which in spite of being disturbing defends itself without the film.. peter gabriel also wrote music for ‘the last temptation of christ’ and that stuff is wicked..

vivisection, part 7:

i've just reminded myself that line from 'never tear us apart' by inxs:
i told you
that we could fly
'cause we all have wings
but some of us don't know why

enough of this masochism.. till thursday then..

This isn't the last song, there's no violin, the choir is quiet, and no one takes a spin, this is the next to last song, and that's all...
